The Essential Guide to Anti-Aging

Eye creams, face oils and supplements; the health and beauty industry is constantly selling new ways to reverse the signs of aging. But toxic fads are becoming trends of the past. We know that food and working out are more sustainable than cosmetic treatments.

Leaders in today’s industry succeed in solving premature aging by treating your body as an engine that requires proper fuel and maintenance.

Getting started with a PT will teach you how to enhance performance and achieve a youthful appearance with minimal inconvenience. Here are a few ways to embrace a busy Sydney lifestyle filled with anti-aging habits.

Consider Fish Oil

Fish oil is as common as butter on bread. In studies by Harvard, it’s been shown to go down well with a glass of water after breakfast. Supplements were shown to reduce heart attacks by 28% and were of great benefit to people who ate less than 1.5 servings of fish per week or didn’t eat fish at all.

It’s important to read the labels when stocking up on supplements; fish oil is best checked for mercury levels, arsenic, cadmium, and lead that originated from an industrial source. The best brands to choose are organic.

Ask a personal trainer how much omega-3 to balance in your diet with other fats.

Avoid White Sugar

Sit down at the rustic interior of any cafe and you’ll be presented with plenty of options for sugar and its supplements. White sugar is now traditionally labelled as a poison. It is said to increase blood glucose levels and other blood imbalances.

So far, science has yet to reach any definite proof, but it’s mostly believed to raise glucose in blood levels and lead to heart disease.

In scientific studies white sugar has been:

  • Shown to dim the decision-making part of the brain that tells us when to stop eating. It has been linked to obesity and types 2 diabetes.
  • Recommended to not be given to children under the age of 2 years-old due to increases in the risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Proven to accelerate aging and create tooth decay. It can mess with your skin by contributing to wrinkles and sagging. After it hits your bloodstream, it attaches to proteins. If it sits on your teeth, it could also fuel plaque and bacteria.

Ask a personal trainer how to kick your sugar habit and curb the cravings for good.

Wear your vitamin C

If you’ve never worn Vitamin C before, you’re probably thinking; why don’t I just eat some oranges if I want to consume Vitamin C?
Whereas Vitamin C from oranges will sink into the bloodstream, applying Vitamin C allows treatment to sink directly into the skin and your desired target areas. It’s been shown to have the ability to slough away dead skin cells from the surface and gives you a natural and smoother, glowing complexion.

This also speeds up new cell regeneration. The key thing to note about using Vitamin C is the frequency. Susie Wang, cofounder of 100% PURE says “Vitamin C is highly acidic and very bitter, so when applied to the skin, the skin is triggered to ‘heal’ itself by accelerating the production of collagen and elastin.”
A personal recommendation from Rushcutters Health gym is the Body Shop Vitamin C treatment #nonsponsored. But any vitamin C treatment may have the benefits of improving dry skin, oily skin, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and sun damage. Ask your trainer how much Vitamin C will assist your nutrition plan.

Be good with the circadian rhythm

The sleep-wake cycle is the rhythm of your life. When you are drinking too much coffee and alcohol, or when you are oversleeping and eating large amounts of processed foods (without a proper fitness routine,) you prevent your body’s circadian rhythm from working effectively.

Aside from following your personalised nutrition and exercise plan, you can monitor your body’s interaction with sunlight and artificial light to cause fewer sleep disturbances. One way is to purchase light reducing stickers for electronic displays. This will monitor the amount of glow so that it doesn’t disrupt your sleep/wake cycle the moment before you switch-off.

Sydney is one of the world’s busiest cities. Our experienced team of 11 Personal Trainers are well trained in helping members reduce stress and improve sleep quality. Please let us know if you wish to discuss your sleep/wake cycle.

Drink water throughout the day

We all know that drinking plenty of water is a way to a) get-up and have a walk around from your desk and b) a way to improve your body’s the hydration. Your parents probably already told you this, but; 2 litres is the ideal amount.

What water does for the body aside from hydration includes assisting all of its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate body temperature and other bodily functions. Because your body loses water via breathing, sweating and digestion- It’s important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water.

Want to add a super-food fruity boost to your H20? Here are a few of our personal trainer team favourites:

Moisturise

But don’t believe it is the saviour of all skin problems.

Feeling like your skin is a little dull or dehydrated in the mornings? Try changing up your diet instead. It sounds simple, but curing it with a hydrating cream could only be giving it a shorter-term fix as opposed to building the strength from within.

Clinical skin treatment London specialist, Kate Kerr says “It’s strange to me how many intelligent women can believe that their skin just fundamentally has a problem rather than thinking it might be the products that they’re using.”

Make sure that your skin is healing as opposed to hurting and ask one of our personal trainers about the right foods to eat.

Collagen

It’s possible that collagen could boost weight loss results, heal your body and improve the texture and elasticity of your skin. It’s claimed to regenerate and enhance just about every tissue in the body. Learning the benefits of collagen is limitless- The key connective tissues and workout preparation is across healing the tendons, ligaments, skin and muscles.

Best of all, collagen could boost and maintain the production of your muscle mass and bone density, heart Health and even increase your metabolism leading to faster weight-loss results! Collagen comes in all forms including vitamins, certain foods and skincare companies (La Mer is perhaps the best.) Ensure that the quality of your collagen is lead-free and comes from an organic source.

Decreasing Dairy

Depending on the healthy goals you set with your personal trainer – Removing dairy from your diet could be a positive move for anti-aging and achieving greater weight loss goals than before. Diets with low dairy intake could prevent sun-exposed skin from wrinkling. By lifting oxidative stress from the body…. Cutting out dairy might not only prevent wrinkling in the sun, but could also remove excess saturated fats, sugar and salt from your diet to help lessen your calories and promote a healthy weight.

Want to try something more?

Ask your personal trainer about integrating some facial exercises into after your workout routine. Reported to be used by the ageless Meghan Markle, they are designed to work over 50 different facial muscles that are rarely used when using the rest of your body.

Facial exercises can promote the circulation of blood to different areas of your face and replenish the oxygen muscles in the skin.

Capsules, foods, beauty products and ensuring that they choose an organic mercury or lead-free option.

Socialise and read.

Whether it’s a book about your favourite fitness celebrity, achieving fitness goals or even the brain in relation to your health condition, there’s plenty of ways to enhance your workout and fitness goals by reading a book. The social experience of having a personal trainer can also further the results, by giving you more ways to apply and benefit from your knowledge.

Stay Active

When you stop doing exercise, your body starts to become deconditioned. It’s like when you stop wearing earrings and a piercing starts closing over. You’ll need to remind the body of what exists in order to maintain its current condition. As you age, you start to lose muscle

bulk all over your body at an increasing rate, and you also become more breathless when you are doing less physical activity.

Ultimately? We know that age is just a number that’s only as evident as the habits you adopt daily. Want to create something personalised for your needs? We’ll help you find the key to successful anti-aging.
