Meal Prep is a great habit to get into and is something we swear by at Rushcutters Health. It is not just for bodybuilders, figure competitors or athletes. It’s a simple way to take control of the way you eat and the way you feel and the benefits far out way the effort.

We suggest allocating a set day each to do your meal prep, so that it becomes a weekly discipline.


Here are 6 benefits from meal prep:


You actually save time

We often hear clients say ‘I don’t have time for meal prep’. Ironically, if you put aside a few hours a week you will actually save SO much time (and stress). If you make it part of your weekly routine it will soon become a discipline that you won’t be able to live without. You will be surprised how much time you waste going to the supermarket every day, queuing up at the cafe, deciding at every meal what you want to eat. With all that time on your hands you can plan your next workout, sleep in longer or start to work on mindset by practicing gratitude’s during the day.


You eat better

It’s not only the fact you are following a meal plan it is also that you are taking control of what you put in your body. Deciding to plan ahead and organise your meals means that when meal time comes around the convenient option is the healthy one that you have already prepared. This is good for your body but also good for your mind. You are owning it and committing to it.

If your pantry is poorly stocked then initially you will take a bit of a hit. But soon enough, all of the take-away you are not ordering, work lunches you are not buying and daily shops you are not forking out for will make a huge difference. If you are really organised you can start buying things in bulk and really notice a difference there too.

Prepping and planning ahead seems to have a domino effect for all of the other choices in your life. You start feeling better from all the goodness you are giving your body, but also setting that positive intention spurs you on to embrace health on a holistic level.

You may find you slip up with your eating as soon as you wake up or when you get home from work. When you meal prep suddenly that issue is gone. You have taken the time to plan in advance, stock your fridge with healthy meals so there are no excuses! This is extremely empowering and will help you achieve your health goals faster.


Tailor made

YOU are in control of your meal plan and your shopping list. If there is something you are not keen on, leave it out. If you are trying to restrict carbs (for example) just buy mainly protein and vegetables. The beauty of meal prep is that you can design it exactly how you want it which makes you accountable and in charge.
